gilded spheres
We're new adopters to Tivo but I still had to watch the Golden Globes last night as they unfolded. It's the most jovial awards ceremony, the one where people eat the food and wash it down with champagne. During commercial breaks, everyone gets out of their seats and mingles. They don't stop talking just because the next award is being announced. The crowd chatter went deep into most of the announcements of the evening, more as the evening progressed. Imagine being a celebrity wrangler at this show, tyring to get A-listers to sit down and shut up.
My favorite breakout star of the ceremony is Emily Blunt. Although she's acted in more than a dozen films, she's finally being recognized for her genuine fabulosity and English charm. Looking forward to seeing more of her.
And what was the matter with Renee Zellweger? Every shot of her (of which there were waaay too many) sitting at her table, she looked like she either just sucked an entire lemon or was in the worst mood of her life. She should stay home sometimes! Carolina Herrera won't mind if she wears one less fitted, molded-bustier gown in a solid hue.
Also, do I have to see Dreamgirls? I really don't care. I do have to see Borat though. That Sacha Baron Cohen ought to be arrested for his lowbrow, disgusting speech but it *was* unanimously, undeniably the funniest thing of the entire evening. And Scorsese, your time has come! How great is that? Some eye candy is below:
